The Little Ladybirds Nursery joined Emplaw Solutions in 2016. They have two settings in Darlington and Stockton, County Durham.

Analysis

The Little Ladybirds Nursery is a thriving business with the core value of effectively upholding the safety and protection of children. The principles and practice within the setting are excellent and they had achieved a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted on their previous inspection.

One area of concern that they were aware of was the competence of their policies and procedures documentation. Designing, researching, collating and regularly updating policies and procedures is a mammoth task and can result in staff spending less time focusing on their day-to-day jobs.

This situation was not time or cost effective and could potentially have had legal implications.

Solution and Implementation

The policies and procedures that govern work practice and the capacity to safeguard children needed to be comprehensive and legally informed.

Little Ladybirds decided to register with Emplaw Solutions so that we could work closely with them to construct robust, in-depth and legally watertight documentation.

Emplaw Solutions reviewed their current employment contracts, staff handbooks and policies and procedures. We provided additional content to support their employee relations and niche safeguarding information to ensure Little Ladybirds Nursery would meet all legal requirements and obligations, protecting their business from avoidable risks in the future.

Outcome

As a result of this partnership, The Little Ladybirds Nursery’s following Ofsted inspection was graded as ‘Outstanding’. The Ofsted inspector specifically mentioned the policies and procedures commenting that they were best they had ever seen.

Jennifer Thompson – Little Ladybirds Nursery Manager, is delighted with the outcome and the ongoing safeguarding and HR support from Emplaw Solutions.
